Below are Frequenty Asked Questions and answers about our company, antiques, estate sales, and auctions.
How do I consign? |
We are available by appointment to inspect and discuss your merchandise. Once the items are accepted, we'll provide you with a contract, and an itemized inventory. |
Why should I sell at your auction? |
We expose your treasures to a large audience of prospective and qualified buyers. Our on-line live auction catalogs have up to 64,000 views by over 51,000 unique visitors.
Auctions create competition among buyers; auction prices can exceed the price of a negotiated sale. One auction had 42 bids for a bronze frog by Tom Cotterril. It sold for nearly three times the estimated value based on auction comparables.
Auctions build an exciting atmosphere which translates into interest in your merchandise, and higher sales. Buyers must act quickly or they lose their chance. |
What are your consignment rates? |
We charge a flat fee of 25%. Many other auction houses automatically add fees for photography, insurance, and storage. Insurance is an additional expense at the clients discretion. |
How long does it take to prepare for and conduct an auction? |
It takes from 4 to 6 weeks to photograph and write the catalog. The catalog is posted online for preview and bidding two weeks in advance of the sale. |
Do you ship the items to the buyers? Who pays for that? |
Yes, we have professionals such as the UPS Store, Parcel Plus, and Allen Moving ship the sold items. We provide the shipping companies with a catalog, dimensions and weight in advance so they are prepared to quote costs before or after the sale.
The cost of shipping is at the buyer's expense. |
